Bessie Tompkins Bogue, a native of Wilmington, NC, was born March 17, 1936 to the late Marion Francis Tompkins and Fannie Harrington Tompkins. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She died peacefully at her home on March 3, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar H. Bogue; son, Steven D. Bogue; brother, Arthur Tompkins; and sister, Margaret T. Clements.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Bogue Bullock and her husband, Ronald Jr. of Eden, NC, Sandra K. Bogue and her fiance, Jim Goodyear of Durham, NC, Libby Bogue Dore and her husband, Mike of Asheville, NC; her sister, Dorothy Tompkins of Cedar Point NC; brothers, Webster Tompkins of Roanoke Rapids NC, and Marion Tompkins of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Oscar P. Bogue, Michael D. Roberts (Teresa), Tommy Davidson, Jr., Brett Swails, Jr., Stephanie Casper (Mike), Kyle Sledge, and Kristen Dore; ten great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roanoke Rapids Church of God with Rev. Jerry Waters officiating.

Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

Friends and family will be received at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services on Friday, March 4th from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
